“Bible Minor: A Major Blessing”
When I first came to Verity, I knew God wanted me to do the Bible Minor. I wanted to do it, too, because I knew it would help me grow a lot in Him, but I was scared to make the final commitment to all the time that it would require. However, I have never regretted my decision to do the Bible Minor. In fact, the Bible Minor is one of my favorite aspects of Verity.
Led by Mr. Schrader, the Bible Minor consists of twenty-two different classes spread out over the 21 month Verity program. For each class, there is classroom instruction time, then homework and reading assignments that reinforce what we have learned about in class. Sometimes we study different books of the Bible in depth; other times we learn about different subjects, such as hermeneutics, Biblical counseling, or theology. Dr. McCray, Papa Shoe (a.k.a. Pastor Shoemaker), and Mr. Schrader teach most of the classes; but we also have special guest teachers as well.
With each Bible Minor class, I find myself understanding more about God and His word, and then having opportunities to apply what I'm learning. Sometimes it is stressful getting all the Bible Minor homework done along with all my testing and coursework, but God has always been faithful to give me enough grace and strength, and that aspect alone has caused me to grow so much in faith.
Verity is such a fertile environment for growth in the Lord, and the Bible Minor enriches that soil. The more I learn about God and His ways, the more I want to know Him, and the more precious He is to me. I thank Him for the blessing of being able to participate in the Bible Minor program.
