Ways to Encourage Your Student
- Send mail and packages. Everyone loves getting something special in the mail.
- Pray for/with your student. They are involved in a rigorous program that can be a big source of stress. Let them know you’re supporting them through prayer.
- Stay informed about what your child is currently studying—show an interest in their academic achievements.
- Be aware of the time commitment that students need to make to be successful in their studies, and be sensitive to that when communicating with your student through phone calls, etc.
- Find out when your student is testing, and pray for them during that time.
- Visit! It’s always nice for students to get visitors. To arrange for accommodations, call 866-9VERITY.
- Let your student know you’re there when they need you, but give them room to spread their wings.
- Show an interest in meeting and getting to know your child’s new friends.
- If your student has younger siblings, encourage the siblings to send letters and cards.
- When your student comes home for breaks, let them rest—the Verity program is very intense, and students often need some recovery time after a long semester.
- Gifts of money, however large or small, are always appreciated.
