Criminal Justice
“He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
While the tyranny of self-centered humanism has wreaked havoc on the value of human life in our day, God has, from the beginning of time, established the conditions men must meet if they are to live in peace and harmony with one another. Verity’s Criminal Justice program is designed especially for those students who feel called to be a minister of justice in a world that often calls good evil and evil good. Christians would do well to learn the means and become the tools that could be instrumental in bringing criminal offenders to true repentance. “Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:9)
The English statesman Edmond Burke once said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Verity endeavors to equip criminal justice students with the tools necessary to skillfully wield the scales of justice through an interdisciplinary study of crime and the justice system in the United States of America. The program includes studies in the professional and theoretical areas, along with practical training and development opportunities. Individuals desiring to enter the legal field should consider this degree as appropriate preparation for law school.
